Chuck the Duck

This piece is from the 2025 Main Street Arts Annual Plein Air Event and Exhibit. I was happy to set up looking into the lovely garden on the property for the Warfield Restaurant, a sponsor of the event. I love this spot and tend to aim there when I get a chance to paint or eat in that area! On this nice September day, I chose a spot overlooking the lovely pond. I was there briefly when a duck showed up to hang out with me. I decided to put it in the painting as the creature seemed to be in no hurry to leave. The duck took the one legged pose and I was so surprised to have him wind up standing like that for over an hour! Later I found out from an employee that the Duck was named Chuck a long time ago - and everyone was quite surprised to find out a few months later that Chuck was actually a lady duck!
