Stories from my Paintbrush
Remembrance - The Pink Chair Project - Introduction

Remembrance Book Cover
This series of Blog Posts will revisit the uplifting story of the pink chair project. This painting series began just after my mother's death and consisted of 22 paintings that traveled to 4 states and were exhibited in 14 galleries over 3 years. The paintings in the series were not planned but evolved in ways unsuspected. They were large and small, studio and plein air, and touched many hearts. The stories were exhibited with the paintings and people were invited to post their own memories or to write in a remembrance book. So many people commented and wanted to be able to see the work again that I wrote a book which is still available on Amazon.
This blog is the story of the Pink Chair project.
THE STORY BEGINS
I had only one day to unpack from my mother's funeral and repack for my planned trip to Maine to paint. Along with my clothes and art supplies, I took a heavy heart to a beautiful cove in Cushing, Maine. Solitude is good for both grieving and for making art. After getting settled and getting acquainted with the area and places I wanted to paint, I started painting. I did two paintings of the cottage I was staying in, several watercolors from the dock, and one of the gorgeous lupines. It was the perfect time to catch them at their peak!
